For several years, B. has been keeping the boxes of all the medicines he takes due to his mental problems, during our first meeting for the purpose of taking pictures, he showed me all these boxes. We often talked about his problems associated with the use of these drugs, to which he eventually became dependent against his will.

What is a home if not the first place you learn to run from?

The project is an intimate depiction of my close friend's (B.) life and his journey to self-discovery. I try to appeal and evoke empathy for the aspects that shape a person's life after changing their gender identity. I try to present a visual story in vague hints, but also in clear rawness, which represents one of the most significant decisions in a person's life.

Dorota Jedináková (2002) is photographer, a 3rd year bachelor's student at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava at department Photography and New Media. She graduated from the School of Applied Art in Košice, department of photography. In her work, she mainly focuses on staged and documentary photography.
